Go fish 🎣 Ok to repost with credit: @karenxcheng 🔁 ⁣ ⁣ It’s very rare that I get a shot on the first try, but this was one of those lucky times. (Usually it’s multiple tests, location scouts, and iterating on the shot) ⁣ ⁣ @getlostwithbrooks and I were looking for the perfect staircase to do this. It turns out, the famous staircase featured in Hitchcock’s Vertigo was right in our backyard in San Francisco! ⁣ ⁣ You might’ve noticed that the camera is spinning quite a bit, but the footage is stable. A year or two ago, it wouldn’t have been possible to do this shot with a fishing rod (or at least, it would have been very difficult) because of how much the camera spins when dangled on a single flimsy string. But over the last year, optical camera stabilization - and particularly 360 camera stabilization - has gotten insanely good. All those rotations you see the camera doing were automatically removed by the camera, leaving one glorious stabilized shot. ⁣ ⁣ Director: @karenxcheng Fisherman: @getlostwithbrooks BTS filmed by: @bonam ⁣ ⁣ Location: @hotelvertigosf Music: Ghosts by IMMNNC from Fugue Gear: @insta360 One R (with 360 lens) and a random fishing rod I got on Amazon ⁣ ⁣ #insta360 #insta360oner #insta360onex #gopro #hypersmooth #spiralstaircase #hotelvertigo #behindthescenes #filmmaking #filmmakerslife #cinematography #vertigo #hitchcock #sanfrancisco #stairs
